The Nova Scotia Titans have picked up Centre John Tavares from the former Philadelphia Legion in the first round of the Dispersal Draft. Tavares was the assistant captain of the Legion and played an integral role during their last two Stanley Cup wins. Tavares will potentially become the top centre on the Titans, but you can be assured that Jason Spezza and Henrik Sedin will all engage in some healthy competition for the #1 spot.

The Nova Scotia Titans picked up forward Joe Pavelski in the second and final round of the Dispersal Draft. Pavelski spent last season with the Barrie Colts and was the scoring champion of NLHS3, getting 62 goals and 158 points in 84 games with the old Kentucky Racers. He looks to compete with Jarome Iginla for the #1 spot at right wing, although he could also make a great #1 centre too.

Prospect Analysis: Nikolaj EhlersBasic Info:Birth date: February 14, 1996 Birthplace: Aalborg, Denmark Height: 5' 11'' Weight: 163lbs Position: Left Wing Shoots: Left Team in 2013-14: Halifax Mooseheads, QMJHL Nikolaj Ehlers was one of the high risers of the 2014 NLHS Draft. At the beginning of the season most scouting services had him listed as a likely second round pick. He made his way up draft lists as the season went on, and by the end he was ranked as high as #5 in some draft lists. Ehlers ended up going 6th overall to his NLHS neighbors, the Titans. What caused his rise? Lets take a look. At only 163 pounds, Ehlers has to be fast to succeed, and boy is he ever fast! He is probably the fastest player in this draft and perhaps even faster than almost everyone in the 2013 entry draft! His wrist shot is described as explosive, and he also has great puck handling skills. Ehlers was named both QMJHL Rookie of the Year and QMJHL Top NHL Prospect this past season. Ehlers has admitted that he both wants to and needs to get bigger, with his aim being to get around 185-190 pounds. NHL Comparisons: Ehlers has been described by scouts as having the skill of Marcus Naslund, the speed of Pavel Bure and the same style of play as Patrick Kane and Peter Forsberg. It is also hard to not compare him to fellow Mooseheads Nathan McKinnon and Jonathan Drouin.

Prospect Analysis: Nikita Scherbak Basic Info:Birth date: December 30, 1995 Birthplace: Moscow, Russia Height: 6' 1'' Weight: 175lbs Position: Right Wing Shoots: Left Team in 2013-14: Saskatoon Blades, WHL Scherbak had been projected to go in the 1st round of the entry draft but somehow managed to slide to the second round, where the Titans picked him up. There is no doubt in the mind of anyone that this was due to the so-called Russian factor, meaning that teams were worried that Scherbak might go back home to the KHL to play instead of NLHS. The Titans were unfazed by these rumors, which have turned out to be false, as Ehlers was quoted shortly after being drafted by the Titans as saying: "I want to play in the best league in the world, and that league is NLHS." Scherbak's first season in the WHL was pretty impressive, as he collected 28 goals and 78 points in 65 games on one of the worst junior teams in all of Canada, the Saskatoon Blades. His speed and defense could use some work, but holy hell is he ever a great playmaker! Couple that with his ability to see the ice and his great shot, and you have got yourself a great prospect! Scherbak has very good hockey smarts and can adapt to new systems very easily, which could accelerate the time it takes him to go pro. Scherbak was named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Year in the WHL this past season. Scherbak has already proven to be a media darling, so his personality will be welcomed on the Titans! NHL Comparisons: Scherbak plays a style similar to that of Kyle Okposo, talent-wise he has been compared to Marian Hossa.
