The Nova Scotia Titans have traded Kansas City's 3rd Round Pick in NLHS4 back to the Scouts. In return, the Titans picked up rookie defenseman Matt Niskanen. He has made an impact already for Nova Scotia, having gotten an assist in tonight's win over the San Antonio Texans. "When we found out that Niskanen was available, we jumped on the offer right away." Said Titans Owner/GM Jonathan Hiseler in a post-game interview. He will be a more than adequate replacement for Simon while he is injured, and he will help form what is promising to be one of the best young defense corps in the league, with Niskanen joining the likes of Alexander Edler, the previously mentioned Simon Despres, as well as Brandon Gormley and Nathan Beaulieu.

Titans End Season on High Note Excitement at all-time highPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - With the regular season having come to a close, it's time to take a look at the Nova Scotia Titans last 84 games, and see what their first round match-up holds for them. The Good: Nova Scotia finished 4th out of 24th overall, coming in 3rd in the Wales Conference. Nova Scotia had the 2nd best goal differential in the league, trailing Nashville by only 3. The Titans scored 55 more goals than they allowed. Nova Scotia was tied for first with Nashville for best Goals For/Against. Nova Scotia had the best Shots For/Against % in the league, at 108%. The Titans ranked 3rd in face-off %, only behind the Racers and Nordiques, but neither of those teams made the playoffs. Nova Scotia's record against Ottawa this season? 4 wins, 2 losses. The Bad: Nova Scotia ranked 20th in shots blocked. Nova Scotia could not beat Cambridge or Missouri in 3 tries against each team. The Ugly: Nova Scotia has never beaten the Mavericks/Maroons franchise since the Titans moved to Halifax, a record that will mercifully be left in the past as it is likely that Missouri will become defunct after the season. Now, to preview their Conference Quarterfinal match-up vs. the Ottawa 67's. Regular Season Match-ups:Day 33: Ottawa beats Nova Scotia 6-5, Nash with 3 points for the Titans, Neal with 3 points for the 67's. Day 46: Ottawa beats Nova Scotia 5-4, Neal with 3 points for the 67's, Souray with 2 points for the Titans. Day 58: Nova Scotia shuts-out Ottawa 4-0, D. Sedin with 3 goals, 1 assist, Fleury made 33 saves for the shutout. Day 71: Nova Scotia beat Ottawa 5-2, Neal & Read with 2 points for the 67's, D. Sedin, Toews and Nash with 2 points for the Titans, and Thomas had 27 saves for the win. Day 77: Nova Scotia beat Ottawa 5-3, Streit with 2 points for the 67's, and H. Sedin with 4 points for the Titans. Day 81: Nova Scotia beat Ottawa 2-1, Kovalchuk had the lone goal for the 67's, and Thomas made 36 saves for the win. Nova Scotia is the hottest team in the league right now, having won 15 of their last 16 games. Ottawa, on the other hand, has been absolutely awful, having the worst record in the last 10 games of any team in the league. This could very well be a sweep for the Titans, as long as they can figure out Cory Schneider and shut down James Neal. Prediction: Nova Scotia wins the series in 5 games.

Titans Make Playoff Debut One to Remember! Fans in a frenzyPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - The Nova Scotia Titans made their playoff debut one to remember, beating the Ottawa 67's 5-3 in front of a capacity crowd of 18,000 in the Halifax Metro Centre. It didn’t take too long for the M.C. to get busy with activity, as the 67’s got struck by the Toews-er 1:38 into the game. Needless to say, the crowd went nuts! They wouldn’t stay quiet for much longer, as it was only 3 minutes and 50 seconds later that the Titans scored again, courtesy of Vincent Lecavalier’s deflection of a Chris Pronger slapshot. The rest of the period was rather uneventful, aside from the fact that Nova Scotia was outshooting Ottawa at a rate of 2 to 1, with the shots total for the first period being 16-8 for the Titans! The first half of the second period was quite boring, but around the halfway mark, Matt Read scored on a rebound for the 67’s, and it became a one goal game, but not for long, as over a minute later, Titans’ captain Daniel Sedin snapped a shot past Cory Schneider to make it 3-1! The period seemed like it was going to end pretty much the same way it did in the first period, but that didn’t happen, because Mr. Carrie Underwood scored with 14 seconds left in the period for a 3-2 score after 40 minutes. The third period looked like it would provide some thrills, and boy, it certainly did that, with Tim Connolly of the 67’s tying the score at 3-3 with a quick little shot that just got by Tim Thomas. The Titans kept on fighting to regain the lead, and they got it back when Vinny Prospal scored at 8:29 in the third period to make it 4-3. After a couple of coincidental penalties to Sheldon Souray and Jason Garrison were over, the action started to head fast and furious towards the 67’s net. Vincent Lecavalier had 3 shots in a row, but they all were stopped by Schneider, but they all rebounded, and fourth time proved to be the charm, as the job got done in a quickie by Marek Zidlicky, who had just blocked a shot by the 67’s Jordan Eberle just 12 seconds earlier. The rest of the game showcased some excellent defense, as the Titans’ prevented any shots being taken by the 67’s after Zidlicky’s goal. That defensive effort will play a huge part in the Titans’ playoff success. Game 2 goes Monday back at the Metro Centre! Be there, or be rectangular!

Rumors are circulating that a deal has gone through, but obviously details won't be made public until after the Stanley Cup Finals. If it is true that a defense-man is headed this way, it'll be a welcome sight to the team, whose blue-line corps. was riddled with injuries during their playoff run, and from what is going around, this addition will cement Nova Scotia's claim to having one of the best group of young defensemen in the league.

Rumors have surfaced that the Titans will not be renewing the contracts of John Scott, Hal Gill, Chris Pronger & Mikael Samuelsson.
Surprisingly not included in those names is goaltender Tim Thomas. Speculation is that while his abilities are declining and he likely won't be playing in NLHS for much longer, he will be of use for the team for the time being.
