The Nova Scotia Titans have tentatively completed what is a significantly less controversial trade than what transpired yesterday with Fort Myers and friends. The Titans sent defenseman Brian Campbell, recently obtained from the dispersal draft, to the Kansas City Scouts in exchange for two 2nd Round Draft Picks, one in NLHS5 (Winnipeg's) and one in NLHS6 (Kansas City's).

Titans Get Their Man! Drouin Drafted 2nd Overall by Nova ScotiaPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - With little surprise, the Nova Scotia Titans selected left wing Jonathan Drouin of the Halifax Mooseheads with the 2nd Overall Draft Pick of the NLHS4 Entry Draft. The pick was obtained from the Fort Myers Misfits in exchange for three 1st Round Draft Picks (one in NLHS4, two in NLHS5) and a 2nd Round Draft Pick in NLHS4. Titans GM Jonathan Hiseler had this to say about drafting Drouin: "We did not hesitate one bit when we saw that the 2nd Overall Pick was available, and although the price we paid to get it may have been a bit expensive, we are more than confident that Jonathan Drouin will more than pay off for us. He is going to be a franchise player who will lead this team for many years to come!"

With no draft picks left in the 2nd and 3rd Rounds, the Titans had a bit of time on their hands, and it sounds like they're making use of it, as rumors are swirling about a possible huge addition to the blueline corps.

If Markov can stay healthy, then it's an upgrade in my opinion. I'm also shedding a slight amount of salary in this deal.

Titans Select Klimchuk in 3rd Round Highly praised by scouting staffPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - After the trade that saw the Nova Scotia Titans obtain star defenseman Andrei Markov from the Montreal Wanderers, the Titans also found themselves with a pick in the 3rd Round. The Titans used it wisely, as they got Regina Pats star left wing Morgan Klimchuk with the 15th selection of the 3rd Round. Although the Pats failed to make the WHL playoffs this year, Klimchuk still managed to post a substantial 36 goals and 76 points in 72 games. Titans scouting had high praise for the winger, calling Klimchuk quote: "... a player whose work ethic is admired throughout the league. He has proven to be a clutch goal scorer and has also improved his skating ability a tremendous amount during his time in the WHL. He can maneuver throughout traffic in the attacking zone with great ease. It's worth noting that he can shoot well off of both feet."

My mother actually did see a woodchuck chuck wood once. (Well he was clawing through it, but he still chucked the wood pretty fast.)

Have a Hartman Titans select top Plymouth Whalers forward in Compensation RoundPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - Although the Nova Scotia Titans didn't suffer much of a loss from the expansion draft, they still got themselves one pick in the compensation round. Nova Scotia made the seventh pick out of the twenty-seven selections made in the round, and with it, they picked right wing Ryan Hartman of the Plymouth Whalers, formerly of the U.S. National Development Team. A native of West Dundee, Illinois, the 18-year old had 60 points in 56 games, along with 120 penalty minutes, showing that he can not only score plenty but also play gritty. Although the Whalers lost to the London Knights in the 2nd Round of the OHL Playoffs this season, Hartman still came away with 6 points in 9 playoff games, along with 16 penalty minutes. Although at 5' 11'' he is slightly shorter than yours truly, his 190-pound frame shows that he has toughness that can last a whole season.

Beneficial Benoit Titans Tap B-Sens Captain for 4th Round PickPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - The Nova Scotia Titans have had a great go of it at the NLHS4 Draft, and that trend continued today as they once again got the man at the top of their draft board. With the 7th selection in the 4th Round, the Titans selected defenseman Andre Benoit of the Binghamton Senators, who scored a sweet 25 points in 34 games. The Saint Albert, Ontario native has bounced around a bit in the hockey world. After 5 seasons with the Kitchener Rangers, he's bounced around from the AHL, to Finland, to Sweden, back to the AHL, to Russia, then back to the AHL again, but now he's looking to settle down in Halifax. In an interview with The Chronicle Herald, Benoit said: "After so many years of constant change, it's nice to finally settle down and finally be at the top level of pro hockey!" The 5th Round of the NLHS4 Draft goes tomorrow, and that will close the book on what has been a very successful event so far for the Titans.
