OILERS 6 - BISONS 5 (SO)
by Joe Hackett Scouts Beat Reporter
The Oilers won this one in the shootout, to keep their #3 seed in the tough Western Conference. Hudler with #50 and #51 today. Kuemper with his 20th win for the Oilers. Congratulations to the Thunderbirds, who have clinched the #1 seed. The Oilers are 4 points back of the Billionaires, who would have to keep losing and the Oilers would have to win their remaining games to catch them. In any case, they need to keep momentum high going into the first playoffs the organization has ever tasted.

BISONS 3 - OILERS 2
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
The Bisons took revenge in a close one. The Bisons were given 6 powerplays. They failed to convert any, but PK time is time you're unlikely to score a goal, and likely the difference in this one.
Rundblad with his 1st goal of the year for the Oilers. The Oilers with an important home and home series with the Prarie Dogs, which starts Thursday in Odessa.

GAME 1 > OILERS 5 - SALMON KINGS 3 OILERS WIN 1ST PLAYOFF GAME IN HISTORY OF KC SCOUTS ORGANIZATION
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
This was a nice effort for the most part, with 10 Oilers finding the scoresheet. Amazing that is was not a sellout, but the 7027 in attendance were very boisterous and were sent home happy. Scheifele and Hudler with strong games for Tulsa. Mark Scheifele will go down in history as the 1st player to score a goal (in the 2nd period on the powerplay at 5:39) for the Scouts organization in a playoff contest. Very cool and deserving for him. Mark has been the goods all season for the Oilers.
Darcy Kuemper was shaky late, and it's a good thing Hudler found the empty net BEFORE a boneheaded slashing penalty by Ben Smith seconds later. Coach Bruce Ramsay was FURIOUS and rightly so.
Looking ahead to game 2, Brandon Pirri returns to the lineup after a minor leg injury. Ben Smith has been suspended (by the team and Ramsay, not by the league). He will be a healthy scratch and be relegated to the press box for game 2.

OILERS 3 - SALMON KINGS 2 KUEMPER STEALS GAME 2 FOR TULSA
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
Darcy Kuemper held strong when it counted in the 3rd period, surrendering only one goal despite being deluged with 20 SOG in the period. Goals came from unlikely sources for the Oilers in this one. Brian Flynn netted a pair, and Mark Letestu also solved Markstrom with a goal.
Kuemper certainly stole this one for the Oilers. "These are the kind of wins you have to have in the playoffs" , said Oilers Head Coach Bruce Ramsay after the contest. "Darcy was unbelievable. He stole that game for us. We certainly don't want to be dominated like that again. We were extremely lucky to come out today with a win. I think we all know that. We have a lot of work to do and need to be much better to give us a chance to win these next two in their building. We have to get our first two lines going, and that's hard to do without the puck. We'll get to Victoria early today so we will have a couple of good practices and a morning skate before game 3. We have time to work on some things we want to put into practice, so I think we'll be in good shape."

OILERS 4 - SALMON KINGS 3
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
The Oilers had a four goal 2nd period after trailing the Salmon Kings 1-0 after 1. JVR, Scheifele, and a pair of powerplay goals by Brandon Pirri staked the Oilers to a 4-1 lead after 2 periods. They held on, after goals by Lapierre and Eager made it a 1-goal advantage.
The Oilers were very disciplined in the contest, and no penalties were assessed against them. They had 7 powerplay opportunities themselves, only converting on 2 of those. There is lots of room for improvement, yet the Oilers find themselves with a 3-0 series lead and the chance to eliminate the Salmon Kings Saturday and advance to the next round.
I had a chance to get some reaction from today's first star for the Oilers, Mark Scheifele..."It's not gonna be easy, but we realy need to get ahead of them early on in the next game and take their crowd out of it. Play our game, stay out of the box, find a way to win like we have been and rest up for the next series."
Mika Zibanejad is doubtful for game 4 with a bruised right arm.
Come to the Oilers watch parties and root for Tulsa to complete the sweep!

THAT'S A WRAP!!! OILERS SMOKE SALMON KINGS TO ADVANCE TO ROUND 2
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
Wow! The Oilers have completed the sweep and dispensed with the Salmon Kings, earning the right to advance to the 2nd round of the farm playoffs. The Oilers scored 2 goals in every period and closed out the series in impressive fashion on the road. Brandon Pirri was 1st star, with 2 goals and an assist. Mark Letestu was 2nd star with a goal and assist. Kyle Okposo was 3rd star with a goal and 2 assists.
The Oilers will have the luxury of some time off before the 2nd round begins. Updates to come. Stay tuned, as the Oilers postseason continues!

BILLIONAIRES 6 - OILERS 3
Kuemper with a clunker of a start to round 2. Not much positive to say except the Oilers were only penalized once. The powerplay only converted 1 of 4 chances. They are going to need to regroup and steal the next one in St. Paul, or face being down 2-0 in the series.

OILERS 3 - BILLIONAIRES 2 (OT) OILERS ESCAPE ST. PAUL WITH A VICTORY TO EVEN SERIES
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
The Oilers were very fortunate to tie this series at 1. They were badly outshot (The Billiionaires had 19 more SOG). They gave up costly 3rd period penalties, which St. Paul capitalized on. Credit in large part is due Darcy Kuemper who stopped 40 of 42 Billionaires shots. We would have no doubt already been golfing if not for Kuemper. He has been very solid in these playoffs except for the opener here in St. Paul.
Okposo took us to overtime with a last minute snapshot off the rebound after Letestu's rocket hit the post. Ryan Murphy had the game winner in the first minute of overtime, as the Oilers rattled off a barrage of shots in succession towards Bryzgalov. The Oilers need to quit giving Strome powerplay opportunities, because he scored both goals today for the B's with the man advantage.
The Oilers need to take advantage at home. Coach Ramsay says the lines may be switched up a little bit in a attempt to improve results at the faceoff dot, which have been abysmal thus far and have led to a big disadvantage for Tulsa in SOG and time of possession.
Come cheer on the Oilers! For those without tickets, there are watch parties both in Tulsa and Kansas City. These have been a great time for all the fans I've talked to. Let's Go Oilers!

BILLIONAIRES 7 - OILERS 4 PIRRI HATTRICK WASTED AS OILERS OBLITERATED IN GAME 3 IN TULSA
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
A scoreless 1st period gave way to a goalfest in the second which ended Billionaires 4 - Oilers 3 after 2 periods. The killer B's scored 3 more in the 3rd and Pirri got his 3rd for the hattrick gone for naught for Tulsa.
The Billionaires are seemingly getting scoring from everywhere. The Oilers need to find an answer, and fast, to even this thing up before heading out on the road again for game 5.

BILLIONAIRES 4 - OILERS 3 TULSA SQUANDERS GAMES 3 AND 4 AT HOME NOW UP AGAINST IT AMD FACING ELIMINATION IN GAME 5 AT ST. PAUL
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
This game was closer than the last one, but a loss nonetheless. Now the Oilers must prepare for game 5 in St. Paul facing elimination. The Billionaires have been really tough. It's not so much guys you expect to score goals like Strome, Richardson and Galchenyuk. It's the secondary scoring that is doing the Oilers in. And the Oilers are getting KILLED in the faceoff dot. Tough to score goals if you don't have the puck or are killing penalties too much.
This is it now. Win or go home. Lines may be tweaked again. To what effect remains unknown. Whatever happens, leave it all on the ice, boys. It's been a hell of a ride. Roll the dice, and see what happens.
Oilers watch parties in Tulsa and Kansas City. Let's root for a comeback from these guys.

BILLIONAIRES 5 - OILERS 2 KILLER B'S END OILERS SEASON
by Joe Hackett Oilers Beat Reporter
Young netminder Andrei Vasilevski was given some playoff experience, but, like Kuemper, was unable to shut down the Billionaire's offense. The Killer B's just flat out dominated the Oilers in every aspect this series. Still good experience and this team can use this experience as a goal to get back to (the playoffs) next season. Those graduating to the Scouts can use their experience as the Pro club attempts to be a playoff contender in NLHS 5.
Nice season, Oilers. Hope both Pro and Farm clubs can make playoff appearances in NLHS 5.
