NLHS3 Schedule released Start vs. Kentucky, end vs. MonctonPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - The schedule for NLHS3 was released today, and the Nova Scotia Titans will open up their season against the Kentucky Racers at home. After a couple of road games, the Titans will embark on a 10 game home-stand, the longest of any NLHS team this season. In those 10 games, the Titans will play Seattle and Montreal twice, and Minneapolis, London, New Jersey, Cambridge, San Antonio and Kansas City once. The first game against the much hated Moncton Mariners will not be until the 51st game of the season, but it will really ramp up the last 1/3 of the season, culminating with the regular season finale in the Halifax Metro Centre against the Mariners. The Titans first game against the Nordiques will be on the 18th day of the season, the Wanderers will face the Titans on the 7th day of action, the 67's will have to wait 33 days of action before they play the Titans, and the London Dryden's Habs will have 8 days to brace themselves for their first regular season match vs. the Titans.

lots of home/away streaks. It was tough enough to get the schedule to this point where all 24 teams play every day. Hopefully next season I can get it balanced a little more. But thankfully it doesn't really matter in sim hockey if you go on the road 8 straight games. The travel fatigue isn't a consideration. Streaks or not, I think having 12 games each day is going to make this the best schedule yet!

My Prospect Previews are miles better than your one or two line stats Then again, not only did I research while I was writing those, I researched all players about a month or two before the draft.

The Nova Scotia Titans have narrowed down the list of prospective towns and cities to host their upcoming training camp. Cut from the running today were Antigonish Nova Scotia, and Digby Nova Scotia. Both were eliminated because their facilities were not up to snuff for hosting training camp. Still in the running are St. John's Newfoundland, Bathurst New Brunswick, Val d'Or Quebec, Rouyn-Nouranda Quebec, Peterbourough Ontario and Kelowna British Columbia.

Thunder strike hard in first game of Summer League Hansen scores a hat trick in 7-4 victoryPhilipp Cridland, Sports Reporter THUNDER BAY, Ontario - The Thunder Bay Lightning opened up the Summer League at home in convincing fashion, managing a 7-4 victory over the London Citadels. The first period was dominated for the most part by London, who finished the first 20 minutes leading the shot count 18-11. They would score the only goal of the period when Cal O'Reilly (Dryden's Habs) slapped a blistering shot past Thomas Greiss (Titans) to make it 1-0. The second period was quite the opposite. Just about 20 minutes of pure domination by the Lightning, who out-shot London 16-8 in this period. Ondrej Pavelec (Jets) was peppered with shots early on, but held steady early on. About a quarter of the way through the second period, Adam Hall unleashed a cheeky shot that found its way past Pavelec, tying the game up at 1-1. That initial euphoria was short-lived however, as London retook the lead a minute later when Jochen Hecht's (Dryden’s Habs) slapshot beat Greiss. Yet another minute after that, though, the Lightning answered back with another goal, coming from Matthew Lombardi (Wranglers). Just fourteen seconds after Lombardi scored, Jannik Hansen (Wranglers) fired a shot past Pavelec to make it 3-2. That wouldn’t be the last time we saw Hansen in action this period. Six minutes later, he scored again to make it 4-2. It would only take him about a minute and twenty seconds for him to complete the trick. Tons of hats rained down to celebrate the occasion. A late goal by the Citadel’s Dominic Moore (Dryden’s Habs) couldn’t dampen the spirits of either the Lightning or their fans, as the period ended with Thunder Bay up 5-3. The third period would see a quick goal by Michal Handzus (Legion) extend the Thunder’s lead to three goals once again. Ever persistent though, the Citadels scored once again to stay within two goals, this last one coming courtesy of Michael Frolik (Outlaws). The game’s pace dropped off after that, and aside from Patrick Dwyer’s (Titans) successful wrist shot, the game ended quietly compared to the first two periods, with a final score of 7-4, in favour of the Thunder Bay Lightning. Thomas Griess made 30 of 34 saves for the win. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 30 of 37 shots in the loss. 3 Stars: 1 - Jannik Hansen (TBL) 2 - Michal Handzus (TBL) 3 - Patrick Dwyer (TBL) Thunder Bay plays the Kitchener Dutchmen on Tuesday.
