Three tidbits of news: 1. New facebook: www.facebook.com/locria.nyla2. So this one's a bit long. I joined a UVM Class of 2018 Facebook group and met a fellow trans person (they were female to male). They -almost- sent an e-mail asking if we could be roommates...until they realized I was male to female. Hah! That said, their mom actually offered to let me stay there for a couple days at some point, and basically feminize me (my parents STILL haven't accepted it yet) with makeup and some female clothes. So that's awesome. 3. One of my colleagues at KHL.hr - where I recently joined the writing staff as the North American representative - just shot me a DM on Twitter saying he could get me into any hockey games with a press pass at any time. Sweet!

I've been pulled over 4 times in 16 years of driving. first was for speeding, I paid $68 and went to a class to keep it off my record. second was for running a red light, but I was actually going around a wreck and by the time I made it around and was in the intersection the light had turned. Once I pointed out to the officer that there was a wreck that he needed to attend to he politely let me go on my way. third was also for speeding, and I also didn't have any identification or proof of insurance with me as I had rushed out of the house and forgot it that morning. The officer must have felt bad for me and didn't give me a ticket, all I had to do was show up to the station later that day and present my identification and everything was thrown out. fourth was for having a headlight out and it was just a warning. So overall I would say i've been pretty lucky with the traffic police! I remember my mom got busted for using an emergency vehicles lane to make a U-Turn on 380 once lol

Sweet! It's great you have met a fellow trans person. The KHL writing experience is an awesome thing. You are a very good writer. I always look forward to your articles, and I know a lot of us on here do. And hope you get to see Russia, too. Would be awesome to see and the hockey would be too.

What's awesome is the fact that KHL.hr is the second biggest hockey website in Croatia (Behind only Medvescak's website), AND we got an absurd amount of exposure recently (Medvescak drafted Connor McDavid this year)

So I was watching TV when a commercial came on. It was one of those "if you used ____ and suffered ____, call now" commercials for testosterone therapy.
But that's not the funny part.... wait for it...
"If you used testosterone therapy and experienced a heart attack, stroke, or death, call now."
(and if you don't get it now I am sorry for you)

Would be difficult to get the interviews I would like to get for it. Not to mention it might shorten my life expectancy.

You may have seen one of those commercials for a drug called "Topomax"... which can lead to depression and suicide.
I took it for a while for migraine headaches, and I would go to work, sit in my office and stare at the wall all day. I stopped taking it because I would rather be myself and have headaches than be a mindless zombie all the time. Of course, even 10 years later I think that it had lasting effects on me such as damaging my memory and recall abilities, and definitely the depression.
I went through a long period, and am not totally out of it yet, where I cannot deal with ANY social situations. Even simple every day things like answering a telephone, greeting someone politely at the store, or even ordering food at a restaurant. My wife does all of the speaking for me in most situations. It's different if i'm 100% totally comfortable with where we are, who we are with and what events are occurring. So for example, I can go to a Predators game and be surrounded by 17k unknown people, but i've been there hundreds of times and i'm okay with it.
I had a really, really rough time after my roommate died a few years ago, not only did I lose what was supposed to be a close long-term friend, but then I also ran into a few stumbling blocks with new friendships that I was trying to start and also happened to lose contact with my best friend of ~15 years when I needed him most. That was one of the toughest summers of my life and suicide was a serious consideration on several occasions.
I have to say though that since the birth of my son, i've been doing much better. I'm not comfortable still doing a lot of things, but I force my self into it for his sake and knowing that everything I do is for him makes things a lot more bearable and even enjoyable most of the time.

We are very alike in a lot of ways, Ryan. My 8-year old daughter knows no strangers like her Mom. I am ok once I know somebody, but it takes me awhile. Hurts in job interviews a lot. They see I'm a good worker if I get in. It's the getting my foot in the door that's the hard part for me.

UVM has gender neutral bathrooms.
No more dilemmas of "i'm not a male but don't pass as female yet goddammit." Fuck yeah!
