Legion get the job done, Jets and Mariners hold on for another day. Pretty good playoffs so far, each year seems to get better and better. Good job. End of an era for Nordiques. Hope no more GM-less teams next season and more activity all-around. The newspapers activity in the Wales Conference was pretty good this year. The Campbell, not so much.1461 post vs. 85 is a pretty huge disparity. Hope that doesn't happen again next season. The articles are fun to read and write also. Some of those teams very successful but nary an article. Wouldn't kill anybody to write one every couple weeks or month at least. I was very poor on articles.... had an artificial heart put in this year and was sick all year before that.... does that count???

Hope things are getting better. I've stuck my foot in my mouth here. Sorry for that. Lots of you guys write enough papers for school. I should mind my own business. I was wrong and truly apologize. Articles are purely voluntary, and the MO rating is there as an incentive.

I just felt bad that I haven't participated as much as I would have liked.... hopefully things will get better now. Im feeling great.

Dubinski/Glencross put the Legion up 1-0. Looks like this series will be decided 5 on 5. Only 1 penalty called in the contest.
Millionaires get unlikely goals from Demers and Butler then Callahan seals the deal in OT. Might be a heck of a goalie duel brewing between Anderson and Schneider.
Down on the farm, the Beast pound the Harfangs 5-2 behind Jagr and Eaves.
Hipsters edge the Billionaires on Burishe's hattrick.

Didn't expect to win the opener, that makes the path a bit easier. Carter-Tavares-Dubinsky are on fire and getting great support through all 4 lines now.
a side note, I didn't expect to make it this far again. In the unlikely event that we advance again, and even win it all again, for the conf. finals and going forward I am making videos every day that I sim just to have a little proof if necessary that I am in no way influencing the outcome of these games. First of all, there is no way for me to do it in the first place, I can only set lines and press the "simulate" button. But just in case there is any doubt I wanted video proof since apparently at least one GM last season felt like there was something shady going on with the commissioner's team going the distance back-to-back.
So again, when this is all over, if anyone needs proof I can upload the videos.

You bend over backwards to be fair to everyone. I don't think you would ever do that., even if you could. Now I'm sure there are bad leagues out there where that could happen. But this is not one of them. I kid about penalty minutes, but it is easy to see why with the DI numbers on the Legion and Mariners rosters. It probably pays big-time to have rosters according to that stat, because less penalties means less goals against. That is just better strategy. Nothing illegal about that. You two just know more about hockey than I do. I don't pay attention to those little details enough. Kudos on that, lol.

DI is huge for me. Season 1 I got toasted in the second half when I wasn't paying attention to it.
I also recall a meeting with some members of the Predators front office, and they were talking about special teams and I think it was Barry Trotz himself who said if you look at the teams that make the playoffs vs the teams that do not, look at their special teams percentages. If you add up the PP% and the PK%, the teams that make the playoffs almost always add up to over 100%. So if your powerplay is a bit subpar and is only at 10% success, then your PK better be remarkable and have a 90% kill rate. If your PP is decent and can score closer to 20% then you only need an 80% PK.
So for me, one of the ways to maximize special teams is to stay out of the box in the first place because for some reason the Legion PP is never that successful.

You got to go to meetings with members of the front office? How awesome is that? My roster has some holes in it with that stat. Scoring should be better next season. If I can focus on beefing up the D this summer, maybe PK can make up for it.

One of the best things about being in a "Small", "Non-traditional" market is the accessibility to the team. Not so much these days, but in the first 5-7 years the fans had a ridiculous amount of access, particularly season ticket holders. Most markets if you are well off enough to afford season tickets, you also have to be lucky enough to get a hold of them. Here they were very affordable in the early days and the team needed every single one of us.
So there were perks, such as a huge number of team events geared toward interacting with the fans. Meet the team party, select your seat event, skate of the union address, town hall meetings, predators gala, draft parties and so on. Everything was attended by members of the team and front office.
Also in the very first few seasons if you were one of the few who was aware of it, there was a "secret" door in the arena that was a stairway leading down to a small hallway that was outside of the dressing rooms. After the game we would gather down there, usually less than 50 fans each game, and the players would come out to mingle and sign autographs after the game, even away team players from time to time.
They have also always had front office staff that would respond to letters/emails from fans, i've never e-mailed someone in the organization without a response and I mean a legitimate response, not just an automatic forward or something. It was one of the things that Craig Leipold actually did right, he set a culture of "Ridiculous Customer Service"

It was one of the things that Craig Leipold actually did right, he set a culture of "Ridiculous Customer Service" That's really cool. I could only dream of that kind of acessability. Bill Wirtz didn't give a damn about the fans. It wasn't until he died and his son Rocky took over that home games were even televised (2008!). He has done a lot right bringing Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Tony Esposito back into the organization. They have an annual Blackhawks fan convention but it is still uber-expensive and ridiculously crowded. I can only dream of the access you've had. I have seen games in the old Chicago Stadium and that was cool because only a few thousand fans though the team usually sucked. But I couldn't even afford tickets to 1 game now. I would love to go to a real hockey game again. I don't even care if it's not the Hawks. Season tickets? Maybe when Carol hits it big with a screenplay or song. She wrote the lyrics to "Tell Me" by The Green Children. Yes, no shit, she won a contest and wrote all of the lyrics for that song. All they gave her was a poster. Dammit if she got songwriting royalties for this. OMG. Listen to that song. The lyrics are amazing. She come up with that kind of stuff all the time. She just needs more confidence in herself and not let somebody steal it. She got a screenplay ripped off like that and the guy is having no luck with making the movie. Karma.
