The Scouts, who will play at the Sprint Center, are to be in the Campbell Conference, Smythe Division. Brown continued, "This is proof that patience, perseverance and hard work pay off. We worked hard to bring hockey back, and this organization is committed to this area and to our great fans". The franchise commissioned a naming contest originally with the intent to find a new team name. Some finalist in the contest were Comanches, Generals, Copperheads, and Thunder Wasps. KANSAS CITY SCOUTS TO RESTORE 'SCOUT' STATUE
In a ceremony at Penn Valley Park in Kansas City today at the site of the Scout statue, the newly minted Kansas City Scouts NLHS hockey club announced they are financing restoration of the landmark sculpture. Dan Brown, Scouts Owner and GM, along with leaders from the Sioux, Cherokee, Powattan, Osawatomie, Cayuga, and Osage Nations among others were in attendence.
"The Kansas City Scouts are proud to finance the restoration of this important landmark. We are proud to announce our ongoing partnership with the Native American Nations. Just as the proud Scouts franchise has been resurrected, so to will this important landmark be restored and preserved."
The Scout is a famous statue by Cyrus E. Dallin in Kansas City, Missouri. It is more than 10 feet tall, and depicts a Sioux Indian on horseback surveying the landscape. The Scout was conceived by Dallin in 1910, and exhibited at the 1915 Panama–Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, where it won a gold medal. On its way back east, the statue was installed on a temporary basis in Penn Valley Park. The statue proved so popular that $15,000 in nickels and dimes was raised to purchase it through a campaign called "The Kids of Kansas City." The statue was dedicated in 1922 as a permanent memorial to local Indian tribes. It is currently located east of Southwest Trafficway in Penn Valley Park, which is south of downtown Kansas City.

MESSIER TO COACH SCOUTS?
Scouts Owner and GM Dan Brown neither confirmed nor denied rumors that have been swirling about the hockey club being in talks with Mark Messier for the Kansas City Scouts Head Coaching position.
"We will be interviewing a number of candidates in the coming weeks. I woud prefer not to divulge names as to not tip my hand to other hockey clubs who are also seeking head coaches. As soon as we have any news on this front, we will announce it. Stay tuned."
Speculation has it the short list of other potential coaching candidates includes Brent Sutter and Patrick Roy. These are all exceptional candidates. It seems the Scouts are really looking to hire a quality head coach. The coming weeks are sure to be exciting heading into the Scouts inaugural season.

I would rank Laich and Parenteau ahead of Prospal and Dupuis and we know what that tandem did against deeper rosters last season.

Korpikoski is gonna have to go back to Philadelphia for his ring though ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Calvert has massive potential, that pick could turn into a steal.
