The Cambridge Hornets had a great season this year and would love to start a tradition of giving out awards every year to the players who have had a great season. The awards were created from NHL and Junior players who have played before on the Original Cambridge Hornets. A little bit of history of the Hornets - The Cambridge Hornets were originally name the Galt Terriers which started in the 1923/1924 season in what was called the Senior League. In there second season the won the Allen Cup. The following year after that the got a Silver Medal in the World Hockey Championships in Colorado. With very little fan support they couldn't attract enough good players to maintain the great play of hockey. In the 70's they then changed there name to the Galt Hornets. In the first two seasons of changing their name they won the Allen Cup. Then they changed their name once again the Cambridge Hornets which remains to this day. They have had several NHL players play for them such as: Peter Zezel, Todd Harvey, Rick Vaive and Gilbert Dionne. The Galt Arena Gardens was built in 1920 which still stands today. The Cambridge Hornets have played in the Galt Arena Gardens from 1923 to the present day. Here are the awards:
