Went to the game today. Catamounts won a very entertaining, back and forth, physical game 5-2. X-Factor was goaltending. Mike Santaguida was lights out other than one soft goal (PSU forward went five hole at an angle, and Tommy Olczyk - Edzo's kid - finished for the Lions) for the Catamounts. Eamon McAdam (Islanders prospect) on the other hand was shaky at times. On the GWG for UVM (a goal by Matt White), Robert Polesello shot the puck into the Nittany Lion zone. It bounced off the boards behind McAdam and got caught in his feet. He couldn't find it and White smacked it home quickly. Lots of goonery, especially from Penn State, who had 2 players get 5 minute majors (David Glen and Mike Williamson). Glen took out Catamount forward Mario Puskarich - last year's BCHL scoring champ with Langley - with a hit to the head, earning a 5 minute major (and a minute and a half 5 on 3 with which they did nothing). Crowd was into the game, mostly PSU fans, but there was a nice throng of green and gold. Overall a fun experience and I can't wait to attend many games at Gutterson in the near future! Vermont upset #2 Notre Dame last night at Gutterson!! Mario Puskarich's first NCAA goal being the GWG. Puskarich led the BCHL in scoring last year.

After being blanked 2-0 by Maine last night, Vermont responds by defeating the Black Bears 4-3 tonight, earning a split in Orono.
Next weekend is a tough home set with the powerful Providence College Friars

He...just...makes...it...look...so...damn...easy. As soon as he's NLHS Draft eligible, I'm going after him if it kills me.

62 games after it started, Minnesota women's hockey's win streak is FINALLY over, thanks to a 3-2 win by North Dakota today.
Meanwhile, for unknown reasons, Clinton Bourbonais (Sr.) was removed from Yale's hockey roster.

UVM hockey wins today 2-0 over UMass-Amherst, thanks in large part to 39 saves by Mike Santaguida. Jake Fallon and Mario Puskarich with the goals.
Meanwhile, UVM basketball fights valianty, but falls 91-90 in a close one against #6 Duke. They can be proud of that effort.

Alabama-Huntsville gets their first win of the hockey season (and only 4th in the last two seasons), 4-3 over Bowling Green State! GWG scored with just 13 seconds to go.

Jets fans don't want to see the second goal by UVM. My word.
