I'm going with the Battle of Lake Champlain, though the Golden Horseshoe War will also be good.
Lake Placid and Burlington are only about an hour and a half apart if it's spring/summer/fall and you can take the ferry from Port Kent straight to Burlington! It's still only 3 hours if you're taking the long way, around Lake Champlain, but it'll have to go through Quebec, and you may wind up in traffic seeing as it's so close to Montreal.

I'm a bit biased in favor of The Battle of the Atlantic, but I also think that The Golden Horseshoe War will be really good as well.
