Yeah this is just a mess, I think that even with Kessel and Eriksson we would still be struggling right now, something is just off and I can't seem to make the right adjustments to get out of this funk. First line is clicking, we're generating a lot of shots, just getting outscored every single time... If the next one is a loss, i'll likely fall into a deep depression

And WorseBy: Dickie Dunn Beasts Beat Writer Burlington - The Beasts manage to lose in more spectacular fashion every time they hit the ice, losing their ninth straight game and fifteenth out of seventeen. This time an embarrassing 6-1 loss to the Kitchener Herbalists, their first victory over the Beasts this season. The lone Beasts score was by Jordan Staal with assists by R.J. Umberger and Jay Bouwmeester. Two players made their Beasts debut, center Sam Gagner was held without a point and was returned to Montpelier following the game and goaltender Ondrej Pavelec took the loss in his first pro action of the season. More line shuffling is expected to try and break the team out of this funk, Mike Richards will likely take over the first line again with Umberger and Troy Brouwer. Team defense needs to be the focus for a team who has allowed goals in bunches during the losing streak. Notes: -The loss dropped the Beasts out of the playoffs for the moment, now one point behind the Citadels with a game in hand. The two teams will meet head to head on Wednesday, the Beasts will play the Nordiques and Typhoons before that matchup while the Citadels take on the Typhoons and Huskies. -Montpelier continues to turn around their season. The Republicans won 4-3 over the Exports who may be the team they are chasing with the Warriors on a roll as well. -Jonas Gustavsson improved his record with the Republicans to 8-6-1 with two shutouts. Pavelec is the only Montpelier goaltender with a losing record at 16-18-4, though his record is improving it remains to be seen if he will be returned to the farm club or stay with the pro Beasts.

The Drive For FiveBy: Dickie Dunn Beasts Beat Writer Burlington - Five games remain for the Beasts as the attempt to pull of the impossible and climb back into a playoff position. The team is 4-0-1 in the last five, with games against the Nordiques, Citadels, Mariners and twice against the Vikings remaining on the schedule. The situation improves with every victory, the Beasts hold two games in hand on the Citadels as well as a head-to-head matchup. Winning in those three opportunities would likely be enough to pass the Citadels for the fourth and final playoff spot. This comes after a horrific stretch where the Beasts won just two out of 20 games, end that 2-11-7 stretch on a 12 game losing streak. It looks like the new players have found some chemistry however and the ship is headed back in the right direction. The Beasts most recent game was a 4-1 romp at the Macon Coliseum over the home team Macon Whoopee. That game concluded the Beasts season against the Western Conference. The Beasts have enjoyed more success against the West than against their own Eastern Conference. They finished with an overall record of 17-6-5 against the West, good for 39 of the team's 81 points. They are currently 18-19-6 against the East with 42 points. Here is how the season broke down against the West... Versus the Macon Whoopee the Beasts went 3-0-1 for 7 points and outscored the Whoopee 10-6. Versus the Toronto Scottish the Beasts went 3-0-1 for 7 points and outscored the Scottish 10-7. Versus the Kitchener Herbalists the Beasts went 3-1-0 for 6 points and outscored the Herbalists 10-9. Versus the Nashville Huskies the Beasts went 2-0-2 for 6 points and outscored the Huskies 11-9. Versus the Winnipeg Jets the Beasts went 2-1-1 for 5 points and outscored the Jets 11-9. Versus the Nashville HC Mutiny the Beasts went 2-2-0 for 4 points and outscored the Mutiny 13-12. Versus the Chatham Maroons the Beasts went 2-2-0 for 4 points and were outscored by the Maroons 10-12 which is really the only negative mark you can find against the West this season. So now the Beasts will be tested to improve their Eastern Conference record and pull off the miracle finish. Can they do it?
