Talk about what you're listening too, who you're going to see and anything else having to do with music.

Rancid just posted a free album download on Facebook. It's a bootleg of one of their 1995 shows!

Deftones bassist Chi Cheng died yesterday morning. He had been in a coma for 5 years after being in a car accident. The band continued to perform and produce new music with fill-in (now permanent) bassist Sergio Vega.
Anyone who isn't familiar with the Deftones should check them out, they are labeled as "Metal" or "Nu Metal". But I think they are more alternative to hard rock and they really should appeal to a very wide audience. Some good songs to check out for the first time...

Here's an interesting question... What is your favorite song that salutes, or is a fight song of sorts for, a sports team? Good example would include be by the Dropkick Murphys, a tribute to the Red Sox. I have two, both in languages I don't understand. First one is for (and partially by - the chorus you sometimes hear is the team singing) the Swedish national team: Second is Dinamo Riga's fight song, even if the video makes me highly uncomfortable: They're both catchy, even if I don't understand a word they say (not to mention you can never hear Dinamo Riga's song because Arena Riga is so damn loud)

No metalheads? None? *slowly walks away in disgust* Ryan's one! I saw "nu-metal" quoted there, that doesn't inspire confidence!

16 is when I stopped playing bass and started playing guitar. I discovered it was incredibly boring. Just open frets power-chords. I'll still listen to the more mainstream late 80's early 90's metal stuff every now and then like Pantera/Judas Priest but I couldn't care less for metal today.

Although it also depends entirely on what scene you're looking at. If you're looking at the more mainstream, "metalcore" scene, I couldn't care less either. The thing with metal is you have quite a diversity within itself.

My folks packed up my old high school/university stuff in a bin this week. I was sorting through it and found a bunch of burned CDs which "PUNK" labels. It's been 10 years since my last day of university so I had to use Shazam to find the artists/song names. I have to admit it was fun to listen to old AFI, Mustard Plug, Less than Jake, MEST, Slick Shoes, Lagwagon etc. I may put some on to my ipod!
Oh the best part of the sorting was finding old concert ticket stubs. The days of disposable income... sigh.
